Pitch Wars - Pick Me As Your Coach!

Are you participating in Pitch Wars? Do you want me to be your coach? Then read on!

What I'm Looking For:

I'm looking for YA Sci-Fi in particular, since that's what I write. But I'm also open to ANY genre YA: mystery, thriller, horror, fantasy, steampunk, cyberpunk, etc - bring it on! I also love funny, romantic contemporary and magical realism, as long as they have a strong hook.

If you write commercial, high concept YA with action, romance, and adventure, I'm the coach for you!

If your book has nerdy characters, robots, hackers, spaceships, explosions, mad scientists, sword fights, shocking twists, and/or kick ass women and men, pick me!

I am NOT the coach for you if you write quiet or literary novels, novels in verse, dark gritty contemporary, fairy tale re-tellings, or historical novels. Those genres are just not my specialty.  Also, I'm not doing MG, NA, or Adult for this contest - but many amazing coaches are, so check them out! (Psst... my agent sister Krista Van Dolzer is pretty awesome if you write MG.)

Why should you pick me?

I write YA sci-fi and I'm represented by the amazing Kate Testerman of KT Literary. I've interned for literary agent Jill Corcoran of Herman Agency for the past 6 months, and I read queries every day. I know what agents are looking for, and how to avoid some common problems in queries and opening pages. My critique partners call me the "plot whisperer" because I always help them figure out their plot issues (I LOVE brainstorming).

Need more convincing? Five people whose books I edited got agents, and two of those authors have already sold those books to one of the Big 6 publishers. I've been to Comic Con five times (and dressed up twice!) and I have five cute fluffy dogs. Also, I've met Joss Whedon.

Just hanging out with my buddy Joss at 3am.
