September Contests for Writers

Happy September everyone! I don't know about you, but I can't believe 2012 is already winding down. Where did this year go?

This month there are two exciting contests to help writers who are looking for representation, and I want to make sure you know about them:

Gearing Up To Get An Agent - Deana Barnhart is hosting a month-long blogfest with a meet and greet, query polishing, critique partner match-up, giveaways, and a pitch contest with twelve different agents! Check out the schedule and sign up on the linky to participate, and then submit your query + first 150 words during two different windows on September 14. Deana will also be hosting a separate small press pitch contest in October.

Come And Get It - Cupid's Literary Connection is hosting both a pitch contest and a fundraiser for her local children's hospital, with giveaways and an auction featuring items from different agents (such as critiques). There are five agents participating in the pitch contest, and even more in the auction - check out the complete schedule for details. To enter the pitch contest, submit your query and first 250 words, along with a donation of $4. The first entry window was today, but don't worry, there's another one on September 7.

I've been asked to be a judge in both of these contests, and I'm very excited to read the entries. I know it will be difficult to narrow them down!
